Leigh Griffiths vs Patrick Bamford

Goal-scorers come at a cost at any level and it is evident that both Wolves and MK Dons have a striker they can rely on this season.

The Dons travel to Molineux on Saturday ahead of this week’s league one fixture list hoping that Bamford can end his goal drought which has seen him net just one goal in his last six league appearances. Similarly, Griffiths is on an average run netting just twice in his last six league games.

The U21 international and the Scottish international have 22 goals between them, both netting eleven goals in the league so far this season. Although Griffiths has made one more appearance the statistics are still in his favour as Bamford has started 17 of his 18 appearances. Griffiths has only made 15 starts for his eleven goals averaging a goal every 116 minutes whereas Bamford averages a goal every 142 minutes in the league.

Orient captain Dave Mooney and Nahki Wells currently lead the scoring charts in league one with the latter averaging a goal every 91 minutes, a stunning accolade from the Bermudan striker. Mooney recklessly lashed out at Walsall centre-half Paul Downing at the weekend resulting in a suspension which will encourage many of the strikers chasing down his goal tally.

MK Dons will be worrying about their striking options come January as Bamford has scored almost 40% of the Dons league goals and is expected to return to Chelsea. His parent club are keen to see him perform at Championship level and are expected to sort out his next loan move. This will already be in the back of Karl Robinson’s mind whose second top-scorer is Shaun Williams, the centre-half has netted seven times in league one already with five penalties and two excellent free-kicks.

Griffiths has a shoot-on-sight type attitude which is has seen him form a formidable partnership with work horse Kevin Doyle. They complement each other and when Griffiths bags Wolves tend to win the game, the Scot has netted in nine different matches of which Wolves have won seven and drawn two.

There will be plenty of quality on show between Wolves and MK Dons at the weekend but expect both of these two sharp shooters to have some bearing on the outcome of the clash at Molineux on Saturday.
