Carl Ikeme – One of the stand out performers for Wolves this season and kept up his superb form on Saturday against Bradford. The 6ft 3ins goalkeeper made some crucial saves to keep Bradford at bay and help Wolves keep up with pacesetters Leyton Orient. Ikeme is still statistically the best keeper in the entire division.

Carl Winchester – The 20-year-old from Belfast had to make this week’s team after his solo effort against Swindon Town. Winchester picked the ball up on the halfway line shimmied past one, ran at Grant Hall gaining himself a crucial yard and unleashed a 25-yard wonder striker which left Wes Foderingham helpless.

Harry Maguire – Nigel Clough got exactly what he wanted this weekend and was massively helped by the performance of 20-year-old Maguire. The Sheffield born lad who has already played over 100 games for the Blades netted twice in the first half from two set-pieces and put United in cruise control. A much need win for Sheffield who can now look in the right direction under new management.

Jordan Clarke – Steven Pressley very nearly let go of Clarke in the summer, he deemed the right-back surplus to requirements. However, he brought the academy graduate back into the first team and never looked back. Clarke has been ever present for Coventry this season featuring in every league game. He has played centre half predominantly and produced a solid display against Walsall on Saturday to ensure the Sky Blues came away from the derby with all three points.

Luke Garbutt – Having been a big part of England’s youth set up for the last five years it is clear that Colchester have secured a real talent on loan from Everton. The left-back had a fine afternoon which was capped by his inch-perfect cross that was met by Macauley Bonne to secure a fantastic win over Peterborough United.

James Henry – Henry has made an immediate impact since joining on loan from Millwall, in just four games he has netted twice and assisted three goals. A shrewd acquisition by Jackett who knows exactly what to expect having worked with him for many years at Millwall. His goal and assist managed to turn the game against Bradford at the weekend and wolves fifth consecutive away win means this is their best ever start to a league campaign.

Franck Moussa – The Sky Blues will be doing all they can to tie Moussa to a new contract as his current deal runs out in the summer. The Belgian was in inspired form again at the weekend who squeezed home the winner against promotion rivals Walsall. He has scored six times already this season and has started every league game so far this season. It’s clear that he will have a big impact on whether Coventry can break into the top six over the next few months.

Craig Eastmond – The ex-Arsenal man has endured three loans away from the Emirates over the last few seasons but having signed on a permanent this summer he can now fulfil his true potential in league one. The holding midfielder was calm in possession on Saturday and played well up against the veteran Grant McCann of Peterborough United.

Scott Wagstaff – It was vital that Bristol City got a result at the weekend and clawed themselves off the foot of the table. Wagstaff scored one of the goals of weekend which saw team-mate Jay Emmanuel-Thomas switch the ball from one side of the pitch to the other before Wagstaff took it down on his chest and struck it into the top corner of the net from a tight angle.

Ryan Lowe – It was only last season that Lowe was firing in the goals for MK Dons, hero turned villain here as he came back to haunt them. He opened the scoring with a delightful lob over the Dons keeper and netted his penalty in the second half to level the scoring. Young midfielder James Rowe came off the bench to net the winner and earned struggling Rovers their first win in eight games. Although Lowe is 35, it is clear that he can still score goals at this level and will play a pivotal role to leading Tranmere out of the bottom four.

Jay Emanuel-Thomas – Thomas ended his run of four league games without a goal at the weekend scoring a devastating hat-trick against Carlisle. It was his first hat-trick of his career and it was also the ‘perfect’ hat-trick. He showed everything he has to offer in this game, his heading prowess, his ability to finish with both feet and even an audacious cross-field pass to set up winger Scott Wagstaff. A truly fantastic performance from the frontman who will be delighted to have eased the pressure off Sean O’Driscoll, this being Bristol’s first win in league one.
