Oldham Athletic 4-1 Coventry City: Match Report and Player Ratings

Oldham came into the game 12 games unbeaten, with Coventry only one win in seven. Both sides began the game attempting to play along the ground in reaction to the extremely tough weather conditions. Oldham started the stronger of the two and took the lead after just nine minutes when Latics forward Danny Philliskirk finished smartly just outside the box after a good flick on from Ibehre. Oldham continued to press after the goal and pressured Coventry defender Willis into a horrific error on the edge of the box allowing Oldham top scorer Jonathan Forte to score his 10th of the season after finished calmly under Allsop. The Sky Blues did pull a goal back after a horrify deflection of Liam Kelly sent Rachubka the complete wrong way after a low free kick by Madison. Oldham’s two goal lead was however restored before half time when Forte grabbed his second of the game with a cool finesse finish past the Coventry goal keeper. And it was four after half time when full back Genseric Kusunga put a perfectly weighted cross straight on to the head of Ibehre who couldn’t miss. Overall a very well deserved victory for Oldham extending their unbeaten run, Coventry will have to improve though if they want to end their poor run of form. Full time Oldham 4 Coventry City 1
