Form- Oldham Athletic

The Latics have made a name for themselves this season as League One’s draw specialists with 5 of their last 7 matches ending all square. However, with 5 of those draws coming on the road, most recently from a hard earned point in an absorbing encounter at Chesterfield on Saturday, Oldham fans will be more than content with their teams start to the season that has seen them lose only 2 games in 13 matches.

Oldham currently lie  10th  in League 1, just a point off a play-off spot. The feel good factor around Boundary Park at the moment generated by Oldham’s unbeaten run that now stretched to 9 in the league has got people murmuring of a potential play off push this season, or at the very least a significant improvement on last season’s bottom half finish.

There’s no doubt Oldham are the form team going into this match and the Oldham fans will be expecting them to continue their unbeaten stretch of good form.

Lee Johnson told the official Oldham Atheltic website;

“Coventry are a real passing side that play the lines well. They are in poor form at the moment for them but we need to go for the jugular on games like this, and that’s not just our players and that’s our fans as well.”

Form- Coventry City

The wheels have really come off for City at the moment whose long run without a league win extended to 7 games on Saturday after table topping Bristol City ran out 3-1 winners at the Ricoh Arena.

What will be more worrying for Coventry supporters is the manner of the defeats where it has become clear some senior players in particularly, are performing far below the standards Steven Pressley expects.

Grumblings among Coventry supporters have surfaced not just regarding the quality of players at the clubs disposal but of the tactics of Pressley with many clamouring for him to return to a 4-4-2 formation.

City’s form on the road this season has been nothing short of abysmal; without a win in 6  that has included losses to bottom placed Crewe Alexandra and struggling Scunthorpe United.

Coventry need to start picking up points, finding themselves now just 3 points off the foot of the table, despite being 4th last month.

City’s Last 5;

Bristol City                  (H) 1-3 L

Crewe Alexandra        (A) 2-1 L

Crawley Town             (H) 2-2 D

Preston North End    (H) 0-2 L

Rochdale United        (A) 1-0 L

Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph;

“Lee Johnson is doing a particularly great job. They are a good team, organised and did well against a strong Chesterfield team at the weekend… I look back and regardless of their current form I expect us to win these games.”
