5 things we learned about League 2 this weekend

AFC Wimbledon look menacing

Tubbs AkinfenwaAs far as 3-2 scorelines go, Wimbledon have had a couple of memorable ones in the last few days. First the Dons beat Milton Keynes at the third attempt thanks to goals from the two Adebayo’s, Azeez and Akinenwa, and Sean Rigg, and yesterday they beat Bury by the same scoreline, despite the Shakers having the best of the second-half. In Matt Tubbs and Akinfenwa the Wombles have two of the three top League 2 goalscorers (the inured Marc Richards of Northampton being the other one) – Tubbs, on loan from Crawley, has hit eight goals this season, whilst the hero of Wimbledon’s JPT exploits, ‘Bayo’ has six, and all of these have come in the last five league games. Further back, Azeez and Rigg both have two league goals to their name whilst Adam Barrett and George Francomb have chipped in with one each. Sitting 10th and just a point outside the Play-Off positions, Wimbledon will almost certainly be one of the team to watch in terms of the promotion picture, particularly given the formidable forward two that they have in Tubbs and Akinfenwa.
