GOAL OF THE WEEKEND: Marcus Maddison – Peterborough United
Someone’s been watching David Luiz take free-kicks as Marcus Maddison used the in-vogue side-foot screamer as he scored from 35-yards out for the Posh against Oldham. It was a stunning strike leaving Paul Rachubka with absolutely no chance as it sailed in to the top corner.
It wasn’t the only sweet strike of the game, Michael Bostwick scored from long range earlier in the game and even Maddison himself hit the post from distance in the first half. Spectacular goals don’t always win you games though and Oldham kept pushing for a deserved point but Maddison’s finish is one you want to see again and again and again.
