Leeds United fans react as starlet Stevens opens account for Swindon

Five days ago it was confirmed that Leeds United youngster, Jordan Stevens, was going out on loan to League One side Swindon Town. Today was his debut for the Wiltshire outfit and he celebrated it in style with the opening goal for Richie Wellens’ side.

Youngster Stevens was a number of domestic youngsters who the Whites brought into the club to restock and reinvigorate the youth set-up at the club. What was once a proud aspect of Leeds United’s heritage had been left to lay fallow by former owner Massimo Cellino.

Andrea Radrizzani promised to rebuild the younger squads at Elland Road and Stevens, brought in after starring for Forest Green Rovers in League Two, was one of the first to arrive at Elland Road.

Speaking to Swindon Town’s website, Stevens said of the move to the County Ground:

I’m more than happy that the deal is finally done. I’m looking forward to getting to meet the lads and see where League One gets us. Swindon are a club that have just been promoted, the club is close to family which is great.”

Stevens getting off the mark for his new club will not only buoy the youngster’s confidence, it will also repay Swindon’s faith in taking him from Elland Road. It was also a goal that was bound to draw comment from Leeds United fans on Twitter.

In that sense, it did not disappoint. Here is a selection of comments from Whites fans about Stevens’ first goal for Richie Wellens’ Swindon side.
