Speaking to Blackburn Rovers’ official website, midfielder Bradley Johnson has previewed his side’s game against former club Derby County, saying he is “looking forward” to returning to Pride Park.
Midfielder Bradley Johnson enjoyed a four-year stint with Derby County from 2015 to 2019 before leaving to join fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Johnson notched up 14 goals and laid on 13 assists in 142 appearances for the Rams. Today, the 33-year-old returns to Pride Park as Blackburn take on Derby this afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Johnson previewed his return to Pride Park. Speaking to the club’s official website, the Blackburn Rovers man said that he is looking forward to return to his “old stomping ground” but insisted that once the whistle goes, his only focus will be helping Tony Mowbray’s side in their efforts to return to Ewood Park with three points.
“I’m looking forward to going back, seeing some old mates and some staff who I’ve not seen in a while. I’m gutted the fans can’t be there for it, but I’m really looking forward to going back to my old stomping ground.
“As soon as that whistle goes I’ll be focusing on getting those three points for us. It’s business as usual.
“You can’t underestimate Derby. They’ve not got off to the best start but that means nothing really. Things can turn around quickly, but we’re aiming to go there and put in a performance.
“If we put in a display like we’ve produced recently then I’m pretty positive that we’ll come away with a good result. It won’t be an easy game for us, we know they’re a good side, but we also know that we’re better than them on our day.”
Blackburn Rovers will be looking to build on last weekend’s comfortable win over Wycombe Wanderers, while Derby County are searching for their first points. Phillip Cocu’s side have been defeated by Reading and Luton Town and will be determined to turn the tide with a win over Blackburn.
