According to a report from the Daily Record, Scottish side Celtic are to make “one last offer” for Charlton Athletic’s sought after starlet Alfie Doughty.
Over the course of the summer transfer window, Charlton Athletic youngster Alfie Doughty has been heavily linked with a move away. As covered here on The72, reports have claimed that both Championship outfit Luton Town and Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are interested in Doughty.
Now, a further update has emerged on Celtic’s pursuit of Doughty. As per a report from the Daily Record, the club will look to make “one last offer” to try and bring Doughty to Scotland.
Celtic see Doughty as a left-back option, despite his main position being in midfield. If the Scottish side fail in with their third offer for the Addicks prodigy, it is added that Neil Lennon will turn his attention to loan targets.
The 2019/20 campaign saw Doughty break into Charlton Athletic’s senior side. Injuries meant he was thrust into action and since then, the 20-year-old has been able to hold down a spot in Lee Bowyer’s squad.
Overall, the left-sided player has appeared in 36 times across all competitions for the Addicks, scoring three goals and laying on three assists in the process.
With Thomas Sandgaard completing his takeover of Charlton Athletic, it will be interesting to see how their transfer business pans out over the rest of the season and if it boosts their chances of keeping Doughty at The Valley.
