The Millers were left incredibly frustrated the other night after a Joe Mason hat-trick secured a win for a Bolton Wanderers side who never looked like scoring until the hour mark. The Millers hit two goals in a game for the first time this season making it three goals in two games for them. Ironically it was their defence that let them down on Tuesday and in particular their goalkeeper Adam Colin, who had been outstanding for them up until that point. Their opponents Charlton Athletic will also be wondering what might have been after squandering a lead against Wolverhampton Wanderers and having to settle for a 1-1 draw despite dominating the first half. Rotherham sit 19th in the table, just two points above the relegation zone and haven’t won for almost a month. The visitors on the other hand are flying and have surprised man by making an unbeaten start the league season sitting 5th. Despite this promising start, the Addicks are yet to win on the road so far this season and will be targeting this game as one they should be winning against a side who have lost their last two home games by a 2-0 scoreline.

These two last met on New Year’s Day in 1983. The Millers were victorious on the occasion as they claimed a 1-0 win. Rotherham have won the last five meeting between the sides, you’d have to go back to 1980 for Charlton’s last win over the Millers and even further back to find their last win away to the Millers, a 2-1 win at Millmoor in 1963. The Millers will be hoping history favours them tomorrow as they search for a long over-due three points.
