5 things we learned about the Championship this week

4. Ipswich’s deadly duo are back on song

BxbbgzcCAAIgRr-.jpg_largeIt would not be far from the truth to say that the injury to David McGoldrick in February was the catalyst that led to their faded push for the play-offs. Who knows how far a fully fit strike force of McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy could have taken the Tractor Boys. Back to the hear and now after negotiating their way through the transfer window Ipswich have managed to hold on their major goal threat despite continued interest from Leicester. In their first full season as a partnership McGoldrick and Murphy notched 25 league goals despite both picking up injuries throughout the season. 14 and 11 goals respectively from a combined total of 68 games.  Not the best record but at the time of McGoldrick’s injury both were working superbly in tandem. Both got on the scoresheet in the 2-0 win over Millwall this weekend taking their totals both to two. After a far from blistering start I could easily see both strikers being well towards 20 goals come the end of the season if the rest of side can provide the right service.
