Scouting Report: 3 players that stood out for Southend vs Portsmouth

Jerome Binnom-Williams

BxbWPdjIgAEi33AHaving signed on loan from Crystal Palace on Thursday to replace the injured Ben Coker, Binnom-Williams came straight into the starting lineup, and on his debut he put in a man of the match worthy display. The left-back has initially agreed a one-month loan deal with Southend but we could expect to see that extended, especially after his first game at Roots Hall. Williams has bags of pace and he certainly showed it with constant attacking down the left flank, which was difficult for Pompey’s right-back Alex Wynter, who is also on loan from Crystal Palace, to deal with. Williams was also strong defensively and looked comfortable with the ball at his feet. He also could have had a goal to his name but Paul Jones was able to parry Williams’ powerful header away in the first half. Overall Williams can be pleased with his debut, after impressing the Southend fans.
