YOUNG PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND: Kyle Vassell – Peterborough United
I’m allowing this one despite Vassell actually being 22, but he’s only been that for a month so he’s still young. The former Bishop’s Stortford striker has made an excellent start to this season, scoring five goals and becoming joint-top scorer in League One, impressive form from the former non-league stand-out.
He’s put in a few fine performances but this week he did all his work from the bench, scoring a goal and having a few chances to double his tally but he’ll be delighted just to have his name on the scoresheet again. He’s made a big statement to Darren Ferguson that despite the other signings the club have brought in up-front, maybe your best performer has been sitting on your bench.
