4 things we learned about League 2 this weekend

Accrington still have real spirit

BeattieIt is an overused cliché but one of the main reasons why Accrington Stanley were able to overcome their poor start to last season was their passion as one of the smaller clubs in this division. The club were bottom going into this weekend, but a passionate display at home to Tranmere gave James Beattie’s men a 3-2 victory. Despite going 1-0 up, thanks to a James Gray penalty, Tranmere’s Abdulai Bell-Baggie fired the away side into the lead with two second-half goals, and with just twelve minutes left the game looked all over. However, against all the odds, Accrington, showing all of the grit and determination which summed up their season last time around, stormed back into the game; Gray again scored before Kai Naismith’s goal wrapped up the three points which lifted Stanley out of the bottom two.
