League 2 boast some excellent goalscorers

Matt TubbsWith no action this weekend in the top two tiers of English football, the focus was on the lower end of the Football League pyramid and League 2 certainly didn’t disappoint. One of the stand-out points of the first six matches of the season has been the amount of goals scored; 171 so far, more than League 1 or the Championship. The division has some excellent goalscorers, many of whom have already hit the goal trail. Most noticeably of all is Matt Tubbs, on loan at AFC Wimbledon, who has six goals in six games and has already bagged the August Player of the Month award. Danny Hylton has four to his name, despite the struggles of his club Oxford United, whilst Kevin Ellison, Marc Richards and Danny Rose, of Morecambe, Northampton and Bury respectively, have also hit that mark. Further down the list of top goalscorers the prolific James Collins of Shrewsbury has three goals to his name: a figure he shares with eleven other players in the league, including Reuban Reid and Wes Fletcher.
