GAME OF THE WEEKEND: Stevenage 1-3 Wycombe Wanderers
This was a quirky little game that might not have been incredibly pleasing on the eye but was full of odd little goals. First, Stevenage take the lead after Darius Charles beat Mark Ingram to the ball, sending the keeper hurt to the floor and Charles left to simply stroke the ball home. Then, Paul Hayes came up with a sublime eqauliser by flicking the ball up and over an on-rushing defender before volleying home.
Wycombe then went in-front after a silly little free-kick routine allowed Peter Murphy to knock the ball past Sam Beasant before Matt McLure slid home the third after Beasant rushed out a little recklessly. It was a crazy little game that at almost one o’clock on Saturday night reignited the Football League Show, a sleeper hit this one.
