Barnsley and hull city are battling it out for burton albion midfielder scott fraser, according to the daily record.
The Scotsman is out of contract at the end of next month and poised to leave the Brewers on a free transfer.
Fraser, who is 25 years old, has been a key player for Burton over the past two seasons, chipping in with a combined 16 goals in 81 appearances.
He joined the League One side in July 2018 on a two-year deal that is expiring this summer.
Before his move to Burton, Fraser had spent his whole career to date at Dundee United. He rose up through the youth ranks there and went onto play 106 games, scoring 15 goals.
Barnsley are keen on bringing him to Oakwell as their boss Gerhard Struber aims to bring more reinforcements to his squad. The Tykes currently sit bottom of the Championship so what division they are in next term could impact on their pursuit of Fraser.
Hull City will also be fighting for survival when the season resumes. The Tigers tried to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window and are expected to reignite their interest over the coming months.
Grant McCann’s side lost some key players this past winter in Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen and could lose some more with a few of their first-team players out of contract next month.
With Hull and Barnsley battling it out for Championship survival, whoever comes out on top could secure Fraser’s signature.
