Fulham transfer, Is Andre Zambo Anguissa’s future in football away from Fulham

Is Andre Zambo Anguissa’s future in football away from Fulham

Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League after the 2017/18 Championship campaign came after a barnstorming run at the end of the season. It was a promotion which saw them splurge £100million on new talent. André Zambo Anguissa was one of those – arriving from Marseille for around £22.4million. Now, in a hint dropped during an interview, Anguissa some what hints that his future is uncertain after his loan stint at Villareal.

Since leaving Fulham after their relegation, Anguissa has featured 25 times for Villareal before lockdown put an end to La Liga. Since joining them, the Cameroon international has scored one goal and provided one assist and his performances have led to interest elsewhere in La Liga reports Mundodeportivo.

This interest comes from Levante, an interest that had already been stated and was known. However, Mundodeportivo say that Spanish giants, and global football powerhouses, Real Madrid are also interested in a move for the Cameroonian

Anguissa is no Galactico but that isn’t the issue. Real Madrid might be interested but they are not going to splash the sort of money which saw them bring Luis Figo, David Beckham and Ronaldo to the Santiago Bernabéu. Mundodeprtivo says Los Blancos are interested in making a cash offer to Fulham “as long as he lowers his claims.”

Yet, it is a snippet from the Canal+ Sport interview (above) that proves an interesting hint towards where the Cameroon international thinks that his future lies. In this interview, and in words carried by Spanish sport daily AS, Anguissa all but confirms that his future is not in London with the Cottagers.

Responding to a question on his future, Anguissa states: “My agent and me have a deal: he takes care of everything that is going on around me and I just concentrate on the pitch. At the end of the season, we’ll see if there’s anything interesting but I can’t say we’ve had contact with this person or that person, I’d be lying.

Whilst the above may refute claims that he’s Madrid-bound, the snippet “At the end of the season, we’ll see if there’s anything interesting” does seem to indicate one thing.

It indicates that Anguissa might not be coming back to Craven Cottage unless the Cottagers climb back to the Premier League.
