Speaking to Stoke on Trent Live, Football Agent Gary Mellor has claimed that Stoke City’s highly-rated youngster Lasse Sorensen – one of his clients – has been the subject of approaches from “top League One clubs” over a possible loan deal.
Young Danish midfielder Lasse Sorensen is one of Stoke City’s highly-rated prospects. He joined the club from Danish outfit Esbjerg fB in 2016 and since then, he has been developing under the watchful eye of Stoke’s coaching and academy staff.
The vast majority of his football has come while playing for the club’s Under-18s and Under-23s side, making two senior appearances for the Potters so far in his career.
Now, with the summer transfer window on the horizon, Sorensen’s agent, Gary Mellor, has moved to claim that Stoke have received approaches from “top League One clubs” who are keen to try and bring Sorensen in on loan this summer. Speaking to Stoke on Trent Live, he said:
“I just think he is one of the best young professionals in football. He is an unbelievable athlete, as you can see. I know Kev Russell and Wade Elliot (Stoke Under-23s coaches) think he is special. We have had top League One clubs approach us about a loan. I think it would have been a good fit for Lasse to go out and play.
“With the injury to Joe Allen, Michael O’Neill came out and said he would have been in the frame. Not necessarily starting but he I am sure he would have been on the bench.”
Sorensen is a highly-rated youngster at Stoke and he looked to be nearing a chance in the senior side when Joe Allen was injured but the suspension of the season has prevented that chance. While Mellor’s words could just be an attempt to try and drum up some interest in his client, it will be interesting to see what Stoke have planned for the talented midfielder this summer.
