Derbyshire Live has reported that Derby County will not look to reignite their interest in Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe this summer, amid claims that he is on the verge of leaving the Premier League club.

Last summer, it was reported that Derby County made an effort to try and sign former Liverpool forward Jordon Ibe on loan for the 2019/20 campaign. Instead, he remained with the Cherries, who were unwilling to let the winger leave on a temporary basis.

Now, reports have emerged claiming that Ibe could be set for a move away from Bournemouth after all. Sky Sports claimed on Thursday that Ibe is set to leave the club this summer, with the club opting against offering him an extension to his current deal.

Despite the fact the former Rams target will be available on a free transfer, Derbyshire Live has quickly moved to dismiss the chance of Derby reigniting their interest. They understand that Ibe will not be a player on their radar this summer.

Since making a big-money move to Bournemouth from Liverpool in 2016, it hasn’t really worked out for Ibe. The 24-year-old has played in 92 games across all competitions for the club, scoring five goals and laying on nine assists in the process. Ibe has played in just two Premier League games this season, falling out of favour under Eddie Howe (stats via Transfermarkt).

Despite the fact that Ibe has struggled to prove his hefty price tag, the former Liverpool player is still only 24 and has plenty of time on his side. A new start away from Bournemouth – where a heavy expectation was placed on his shoulders after arriving for a reported fee of £16 million – could see him thrive.

It will be interesting to see if Ibe stays in the Premier League or drops down to the Championship. Or, he could follow in the steps of some British talents who have tried their luck abroad. If you support a Championship club, is Ibe a player you would like to see come in this summer?
