Barnsley complete Cole loan deal

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson has acted to completed the loan signing of Manchester City youngster Devante Cole.

The 19 year-old, who is also the son of former Manchester United star Andy Cole, has attracted interest from a number of clubs including Motherwell.

The England U18 striker could make his Tykes debut as early as Tuesday as they face Coventry.

Cole has signed for the club on a short term deal, lasting only until January.

Manager Danny Wilson spoke about the deal, telling the official club website: “First and foremost, I’d like to thank Manchester City for allowing such a promising young player to join us.

“They trust us with his development.

“What we’ve got is a highly-promising young lad who wants to start his league football off. He’s had plenty of opportunities to go to clubs but he’s decided we are the right one for him. We’re very privileged in that respect.

“Now we have to try and develop him by giving him games at first-team level. What he has got is great pace and an eye for goal. He can be a very exciting acquisition for us.”
