None of the away teams from this Saturday’s fixtures managed to take more than 950 to their opponents. Here are the Top 5 away attendances in League 1 for this weekend…

5) Preston (721 fans travelled to Scunthorpe)

A respectable number of away fans from a club which will have one of the largest support bases in the division this year. The 700 odd fans watched as their side easily beat Scunthorpe by 4 goals to nil.

4) MK Dons (813 fans travelled to Peterborough)

Just over 800 fans will probably be regarded as a good turnout by MK Dons who lost this match 3-2. However some would argue that the Milton Keynes based club should have exceeded 1000 fans as the roughly hour long journey that separates the two clubs isn’t too far.

3) Barnsley (876 fans travelled to Crewe)

A good turnout from Barnsley as i am sure a number would agree. Positive signs for the club that will hope to make an immediate Championship return despite the odds.

2) Bradford (927 fans travelled to Walsall)

This was a fantastic attendance from the Yorkshire club who will hope to establish themselves as one of the best supported clubs in the division this season.

1) Sheffield United (931 fans travelled to Northampton for Coventry away)

The Blades have consistently had one of the best if not the best away attendance stats whenever they have been in League One and take a reasonable number of fans wherever they go. This weekend was no exception, although on the pitch United were beaten by Steven Presley’s Coventry.
