In these unprecedented times, no one knows what is happening with football. It’s on an enforced hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and there’s no real sign of when this will be lifted. There’ll be a logistical backlog of games to get through. Aside from that, there is also the need to consider player contract situations – the projected end date for the season being past the traditional 30 June cut-off point for contracts.

Bristol Rovers sit just below the halfway pivot point in the league in 14th position, sharing 45 points with Blackpool but with a goal difference 12 goals to the inferior of the Tangerines. It’s a time of huge uncertainty in football and Rovers will be no different to other teams in feeling this. One uncertainty revolves around the issue of contracts and such matter. Here are five Bristol Rovers players whose contracts are up at the end of June.

Luke Leahy (left-back): 27-year-old Leahy joined Bristol Rovers from Walsall in early July last year, signing a one-year deal in doing so. He’d previously been at Scottish League One side Falkirk for two seasons after they snapped him up from non-league side Rugby Town. He’s featured 32 times for The Gas this season, providing two assists.

Rollin Menayese (centre-back): Menayese, who was born in Kinshasha, signed for Rovers from non-league side Weston-Super-Mare AFC at the opening of the summer 2017 transfer window. He spent five months of the 2017/18 season out on loan at Swindon Town. In total, Menayese has featured 27 times for the Bristol club during his time with them. 13 of those appearances have come in this season’s League One campaign with Menayese adding nine more games in the Checkatrade Trophy and FA Cup campaigns.

Harry Hodges (right-back): Hodges came up through the youth system at Plymouth, making his move into the first-team set-up and spending a half-season out on loan at non-league side Gloucester. He signed for Rovers in mid-August 2019 on a free transfer. He’s yet to feature for the Gas.

Alexis Andre (goalkeeper): 20-year-old French-Moroccan Andre signed for Bristol Rovers from the Nike Academy on Aug 1, 2017, after having been transferred there from sixth-tier German side Kehler FV. He spent most of the the 2017/18 season out on loan first to Paulton (Nov-Dec 2017) and then Tiverton Town (Jan-Mar 2018). The 22-year old has been on the bench this season for some League One, Leasing.com Trophy and FA Cup games. His only appearance for Rovers came early in the 2017/18 season and a 28-minute substitute appearance in a 2-1 win at Walsall.

Cameron Hargreaves (midfield): young midfielder Hargreaves joined the under-21s at Rovers from Exeter’s Under-18s in July 2017. He spent the bulk of the 2018/19 campaign out on loan to Hungerford Town and was promoted to the first-team squad at the Memorial Stadium at the start of this season. Since this promotion, the 21-year-old has featured in six League One games this season and last appeared in the 2-0 home loss against Doncaster Rovers.
