Northampton Town chairman relaxed over Keith Curle’s contract situation

Northampton Town chairman Kevin Thomas is relaxed over the contract situation of manager Keith Curle, as per a report by the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

The Cobblers boss is out of contract at Sixfields at the end of the season.

Curle, who is 56 years old, joined the club in October 2018 and is their longest-serving manager since Chris Wilder.

He has done an impressive job since his move there and having steadied the ship in his first season, his Northampton side are now currently 7th in League Two and are inside the Play-Offs on goal difference.

Curle is not the only person soon to be out of contract with the Cobblers, with key first-team players like Jordan Turnbull, Sam Hoskins, Vadaine Oliver, Andrew Williams and Paul Anderson all in similar situations.

Chairman Thomas is pleased with the work Curle has done and has said, as per the Northampton Chronicle and Echo: “We’re pleased with what he’s done. I think we were 22nd when he came in and it was a real tough time for the club.”

“I think we had one win in 10 games and he took on a squad of players that was underperforming and had some high earners in it after coming down from League One. They probably weren’t as motivated but Keith has completely revamped that over the course of the time he’s been here and I think he’s done a better job than he gets credit for sometimes.”

He added: “We’re happy with how Keith’s approached things, his recruitment and the professionalism in terms of how we go about things now from the playing department so we’re all quite relaxed about the situation.”

With 13 games left of the season to play, can Curle guide Northampton to promotion to League One?
