Bristol City vs West Brom – Match Preview and Prediction

West Bromwich Albion travel to Ashton Gate on Saturday to take on Bristol City in a match featuring two teams both fighting for promotion to the Premier League.

Albion drew 2-2 in their last game against Nottingham Forest but remain top of the league ahead of Leeds United. Meanwhile, Bristol City lost 1-0 to Leeds and will be looking to get back to winning ways.

The Robins are level on points with sixth-placed Preston North End and are just outside the play-off places whilst West Brom have a four-point cushion over Leeds and are seven points clear of third-placed Fulham.

West Brom beat 4-1 in the reverse fixture at the Hawthorns so Lee Johnson’s side will be looking to exact revenge against the Midlands side.

City should welcome back Benkovic from a calf injury whilst Nakhi Wells is expected to retain his place in the starting XI. Benik Afobe is edging closer to returning to training but he won’t be available for the encounter.

West Brom will again be without Grady Diangana who isn’t due back until around March whilst Nathan Ferguson is a long-term absentee. Kieran Gibbs has returned to training and could be available for selection.

Predicted starting XI:

Bristol City – Bentley; Kalas, Williams, Benkovic, Dasilva; Eliasson, Massengo, Henriksen, Paterson; Wells, Diedhiou

West Brom – Johnstone; O’Shea, Ajayi, Bartley, Townsend; Krovinovic, Sawyers, Livermore; Robinson, Robson-Kanu, Pereira

Match prediction:

Both teams have a lot of quality particularly in forward areas with both Robson-Kanu and Wells having a wealth of experience at this level. It is a really tricky game to call but Albion should just about have enough. 1-2.
