Lee Bowyer provides injury update on Charlton Athletic midfield trio – loan man Sam Field returns to West Brom

Speaking to London News Online, Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer has confirmed that loaned in midfielder Sam Field has returned to parent club West Brom, with fresh complications with his knee injury seemingly bringing an end to his season.

So far this season, Charlton Athletic have had a torrid time dealing with injury problems all over the pitch, with some of the Addicks’ young players coming into the first-team fold to help deal with injury problems.

While some of Charlton’s injury problems have cleared up over recent months and been helped by new signings in the January transfer window, three midfielders who are currently struggling with injury problems are loan man Sam Field, Darren Pratley and Jonny Williams.

While Pratley is “touch and go” and Williams should only miss two weeks, Field looks to have played his last game for the club, with fresh complications over a knee problem emerging. When asked by London News Onlne if he believes Field is out for the rest of the season, Addicks boss Lee Bowyer said:

“Yeah, I do. Sam has gone back to West Brom – his knee is not looking good. That’s why we brought in a sixth loan, because we knew it was touch and go.”

After discussing the injury to Field, Bowyer went on to discuss the injuries to Pratley and Williams, with the pair struggling with back and ankle problems respectively.

“Prats is struggling – he’s touch and go,” he added.

“Jonny is out for two weeks. His ankle is a lot better than we first thought.”
