Nahki Wells secures Championship Player of the Month award

The EFL have confirmed on their official website that Bristol City striker Nahki Wells has won the Championship Player of the Month award, fending off some tough opposition to the accolade.

Nahki Wells was alongside Fulham defender Michael Hector, Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley and Preston North End playmaker Josh Harrop in the nominations for the Championship Player of the Month award for January. And, it was Bristol City’s new striker who came out on top.

Wells enjoyed a thoroughly successful final month as a Queens Park Rangers player, scoring five goals and providing one assist in only three appearances for the R’s. Now, as a Bristol City player, Wells will be hoping to continue his strong form at Ashton Gate.

Speaking to the EFL’s official website upon the confirmation of the award winners, Wells thanked everyone at QPR for their efforts in helping him secure the award. He said:

“It’s my first player of the month award in the Championship and I’m very honoured. I’d like to thank the QPR management and players for helping me achieve this and I’m now looking forward to the next stage of the season with Bristol City.”

The arrival of Wells at Ashton Gate will be a big boost for Bristol City in their efforts to win promotion to the Premier League, bolstering Lee Johnson’s attacking options. Now, having won the award for his performances in January, the striker will be hoping to carry his form and confidence into the rest of the season.
