Sunderland interested in Reading midfielder Tyler Frost

Sunderland are interested in a move for Reading midfielder Tyler Frost in the summer, according to a report by the Reading Chronicle.

The Black Cats are keeping tabs on the youngster between now and the end of the season.

Frost, who is 20 years old, has been a key player for the Royals’ Under-23’s side so far in his career but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Championship outfit. He is out of contract at the Madejski Stadium in June, with Sunderland ready to pounce.

The midfielder signed his first professional contract with Reading in 2017 and was on the bench for their first team in a League Cup fixture against Gillingham soon after.

Frost spent time out on loan in the National League South at Havant and Waterlooville in 2018, making eight appearances in all competitions and scoring once on his debut.

Sunderland are hoping to bolster their youth ranks with the a potential summer move for Frost. Phil Parkinson’s side had a busy January transfer window and managed to bring in Bailey Wright, Kyle Lafferty, Declan John and Antoine Semenyo.

The North-East side are currently 7th in League One and are two points outside the Play-Offs. They already have one eye on recruitment further down the line despite not knowing what league they will be in next season.

Frost is a name for Sunderland fans to keep an eye on over the coming months, with a departure from Reading a distinct possibility.
