Stuart McCall comments after making Bradford City return

Stuart McCall has said his newly inherited Bradford City side have made a “promising start” in his first training session.

The Bantams moved quickly to bring him back for a third spell as manager to replace Gary Bowyer in the dugout at Valley Parade.

Bradford are currently winless in seven games and have slipped to 7th in the League Two table. McCall has  been brought in to steady the ship and help get their promotion push back on track.

The experienced boss, who has also managed the likes of Motherwell, Rangers and Scunthorpe United in the past, knows the Yorkshire side inside out and will be looking forward to the remainder of the season.

McCall has spoken after his first day back at Bradford, as per their official club website: “It is fantastic to be here again. I have been desperate to be back out on the grass, and even more so when returning to this club.”

“It has been great to work with the players. I obviously know a few of them from my previous stint and am very much familiar with a few of the others. It is important for me and Kenny to meet and listen to the players and other members of staff and get in and amongst things as quickly as we can. The faster we get to knowing all of them inside out, the better.”

He added: “We have a lot of players and a big squad with thankfully only two or three injuries, at the moment. I am really looking forward to the rest of the season. I have seen very promising things so far in training and am excited to be working with them more to understand them as much as possible.”

McCall’s first game back in charge is against Grimsby Town at home this weekend.
