Cardiff City in talks with Stoke City over a loan move for striker Lee Gregory

Cardiff City are in talks with Stoke City over a loan move for former Millwall striker Lee Gregory according to Football Insider.

The Welsh side are hoping to complete a move for Gregory before the transfer window closes as they look to make further additions to make a real push for promotion during the second half of the season.

Neil Harris is desperate to strengthen his forward options before the deadline and the 31-year-old has a wealth of experience at Championship level.

Cardiff boss Neil Harris has managed Gregory before when the pair were at Millwall and is keen to be reunited with the veteran striker in this transfer window.

The Bluebirds haven’t found goals easy to come by this season with their total of 41 goals amongst the fewest in the top half of the league.

Gregory joined Stoke last summer on a free transfer from Millwall, but he has registered just four goals during his time with the Potters and they could be willing to allow him to leave on a temporary basis.

Harris sees Gregory as someone who can help boost their bid for promotion with them just five points adrift of the play-off places following their 2-1 victory over second-placed West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.

Gregory scored 77 goals in 238 appearances for Millwall during his time at the club where he played in League One and the Championship.

However, despite having made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Potters, his goal return hasn’t been as high as he would have liked.
