Leeds United and Nottingham Forest receive transfer boost following Luke Freeman news

Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have been dealt a boost with the news that transfer target Luke Freeman could now be set to leave Sheffield United according to Football Insider.

The Championship duo were effectively told that the deal would be a non-starter however Blades boss Chris Wilder now appears to have had a change of heart and is willing to allow Freeman to leave as long as he is able to bring in a replacement.

Freeman moved to Bramall Lane in the summer from Queens Park Rangers for a £5million fee but has failed to force his way into the starting XI for this season’s Premier League surprise package.

Sheffield United are pursuing a move for Genk midfielder Sander Berge although the £20million valuation could be a potential stumbling block for the newly-promoted side.

Following the transfer of Jean Kevin-Augustin, Leeds may decide not to pursue a deal for Freeman although Forest could still be interested in a move for the playmaker.

He has made just three Premier League starts and 13 appearances altogether for Chris Wilder’s side in all competitions and has yet to score for the Blades.

However, despite his lack of impact in the top flight, Freeman was far more effective at QPR last season, when he was one of the outstanding attacking players in the Championship which prompted Sheffield United to negotiate a deal for him.

There is no doubt that the 27-year-old could still be an asset for any Championship side and a move away for regular first-team football could be the ideal transfer for Freeman.
