Hull City’s hopes of making the Championship Play-Offs were dealt a major blow last night after losing to Huddersfield Town at the KCOM Stadium.
The hosts have now slipped to 13th in the table and are eight points off the top six. Whereas the Terriers have risen up to 19th and six points above the relegation zone.
Huddersfield led at half-time after Karlan Ahearne-Grant’s goal only for the Tigers to equalise after the break through an owl goal by Richard Stearman.
An injury to the away sides’ goalkeeper Kamil Grabara meant there was 14 minutes added-on time and it was Danny Cowley’s side who made the most of the injury time and scored in the 96th minute through Steven Mounie to leave East Yorkshire with all three points.
Hull boss Grant McCann has made it clear all season that the Play-Offs are his sides’ aim, however, his side cannot seem to string a set of results together. He will have a lot of thinking to do with ambitions of promotion slipping away from their grasp after a third consecutive home defeat.
Huddersfield, on the other hand, have boosted their survival chances and can now start looking up the league.
Here is how the Tigers fans reacted on Twitter to their disappointing defeat last night:
Criminal defending and lack of creativity in the final 3rd is killing us, got what we deserved tonight #hcafc

The only thing the club needs is new owners #hcafc

Time to stop papering over the cracks at #hcafc Too easy to score against and take Bowen out and we’re bottom half of the table. Too many young players and Allam’s won’t invest in the experience we need.Change of ownership is now a must. Sell Bowen if we need to make that happen

I wonder if there are any other sides in the Football League that play their best player out of position to accommodate inferior players. #hcafc

Simply not good enough tonight #Hcafc

Grant McCann needs to really look at himself after that tonight. Telling us all #htfc match was more important then #cfc You pick the team, you chose the transfers. Too much chopping and changing. Sick of it now 3 home defeats on bounce #sortitout #hcafc @bbcburnsy

I said it at the start and I stick by it. We do not have one striker at the club who is even bottom half championship level. They’ve signed too many div 3 players and the squad has no quality in depth., playoffs silly.Staying up was always the priority for city. #hcafc @bbcburnsy
