Hearts edging towards deal for Burton Albion striker Liam Boyce

Hearts are finalising a deal to sign Burton Albion striker Liam Boyce, according to a report by Football Insider.

The Scottish Premiership side have agreed a fee of £200,000 with the Brewers and he is set to undergo a medical today.

Boyce, who is 28 years old, has also been linked with a move to fellow League One side Sunderland this month but is appears Hearts have won the race to sign him.

The Northern Ireland international has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Nigel Clough’s side so far this season and has already managed his tally from the whole of the last campaign.

Boyce joined Burton in June 2017 from Ross County on a three-year deal but could not prevent them from relegation from the Championship in his first year at the club.

He started his career at Irish side Cliftonville and went on to score 19 goals in 56 appearances to earn a move to Werder Bremen in 2010.

However, Boyce was released by the Bundesliga side after only featuring for their reserve team. He subsequently moved back to Cliftonville and carried on his prolific form for them, this time managing 59 goals in 108 games.

Ross County came calling for Boyce in 2014 and 55 goals in three seasons for Staggies was rewarded with a switch to the Championship with Burton three years ago.

Boyce is now set for a return to the Scottish Premiership with Hearts and Daniel Stendel’s side will be eager to get this deal over the line this afternoon.
