Martin Samuelsen excited for Hull City home debut against Chelsea

Martin Samuelsen is hoping Hull City can cause an FA Cup upset against Chelsea this weekend.

The Norway international is set to make his Tigers home debut in a sold-out KCOM Stadium against Frank Lampard’s side on Saturday night.

Samuelsen, who is 22 years old, joined Grant McCann’s men last week from West Ham United and made his debut in their 1-0 loss away to Derby County at Pride Park last Saturday.

The midfielder could play a part as his new side welcome Chelsea to East Yorkshire in two days’ time and is ready for the challenge having told Hull’s official club website: “For sure – it would be great to enjoy a winning start at home after the Derby defeat. It would be a good game to be involved in against what is a world-class Chelsea side. Hopefully, it will be a nice introduction to life at the KCOM Stadium.”

“I’ve played there before – and had a good experience when winning the U21 Premier League Cup with West Ham – so hopefully I can get another good experience at the weekend. By the time the game comes around, I will have had a full week of training under my belt. That will be hugely beneficial because it will allow me to get to know my team-mates a bit better, build some relationships and understand the style of the team.”

He added: “It was great to come off the bench and get some minutes at Derby on Saturday, despite the disappointment of losing the game and hopefully I can get some more under my belt against Chelsea.”

Samuelsen had spells away from West Ham on loan with the likes of Peterborough United, Burton Albion, Blackburn Rovers, VVV Venlo and Haugesund so has gained plenty of first team experience prior to his move to Hull.
