Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy to join Brighton & Hove Albion on permanent deal

Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy is set to join Brighton & Hove Albion on a permanent basis in a £5million deal according to The Telegraph.

The Australian is currently on loan with the Seagulls but manager Graham Potter is keen to make the temporary spell a permanent one in order to ward off any potential interest from other clubs.

Premier League sides have shown an interest in Mooy but as he played one game for Huddersfield before his switch to the Amex Stadium, he is unable to play for a third team in the same season due to FIFA rules.

Mooy’s contract with the Terriers expires in 2022 with Huddersfield keen to recoup as much of a transfer fee as they can.

Brighton are hovering precariously above the relegation zone in the Premier League and Potter is keen to make Mooy his first signing of this January transfer window.

The 29-year-old has missed just one game since the end of November and has become an important part of the Brighton midfield and although they have failed to win so far in 2020, Mooy has enjoyed some impressive performances.

Potter is hoping that Mooy will help secure their survival in the second half of the campaign as well as being a key figure in his side for next season.

Huddersfield are enduring a frustrating time in the Championship and are looking to add some reinforcements during January and receiving a hefty fee for Mooy would aid manager Danny Cowley in his attempts to bring in fresh faces.
