Nottingham Forest have made enquiries about Watford’s Andre Gray and Crystal Palace’s Connor Wickham

Nottingham Forest have made enquiries about the potential availability of Watford’s Andre Gray and Crystal Palace’s Connor Wickham according to The Standard.

The Reds were also looking at Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah who spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds but was recalled earlier this month. However, it has now been confirmed that the young striker will remain at the Emirates and be given the chance to impress new manager Mikel Arteta.

Forest will face competition for Andre Gray should they look to pursue him with Leeds United also in the market for a striker this January.

28-year-old Gray has struggled to nail down a starting berth for the Hornets this season with Troy Deeney Gerard Deulofeu preferred in forward areas.

Wickham has struggled with injuries in recent years with a serious knee injury keeping him out of first-team action from November 2016 until October 2018.

In May 2019, Wickham signed a one-year extension to his existing contract keeping him at Palace until June 2021 however with him now at full fitness he is searching for more regular first-team football and a move to the Championship could provide him with more minutes.

Although Forest have enjoyed a good start to the season, Lamouchi is keen to add more firepower to his squad to ease the burden on Lewis Grabban who has scored 12 goals in 26 appearances so far this campaign.

Forest are currently in fifth place in the Championship and well on course for a promotion place however their return of 35 goals so far is amongst the least in the top half of the division, highlighting the need for a further striker.
