Italian giants AC Milan are eyeing up a move for Wigan Athletic left-back Antonee Robinson according to Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio.
Their current left-back Ricardo Rodriguez is closing in on a move to Fenerbahce and Milan are now looking at replacements and Robinson is one of the options they are casting their eye over.
Wigan’s 22-year-old United States international Antonee Robinson was born in Milton Keynes and signed from Everton last summer following a loan spell and has gone on to make 27 Championship appearances this season.
AC Milan have Theo Hernandez as their first-choice left-back but they still want an understudy and are viewing Robinson as an ideal candidate for the role.
Robinson still has two-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract with Wigan keeping him at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season however should the huge Italian giants come calling, it may prove difficult for them to retain the youngster.
Robinson came through the ranks on Merseyside with Everton but failed to make a first-team appearance before enjoying a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers and then making the move to the DW Stadium.
It certainly seems a surprise transfer but it may be one that Everton come to regret with the promise that Robinson is showing for AC Milan to be interested in a possible move.
However, Robinson isn’t the only player that the Italian club are looking at. Hearts teenager Aaron Hickey is also being rumoured to be of interest to Milan and is certainly under discussion regarding a possible move to the San Siro.
