Charlton Athletic set to make a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock

Charlton Athletic could be set to make a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock following the departure of Conor Gallagher according to The Daily Mail.

The Addicks were dealt a blow earlier this week when Gallagher was recalled by parent club Chelsea and are now in the market for midfield reinforcements as they look to fight for survival in the Championship.

Bostock has previously played for Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace with him making his debut for the Eagles at just 15-years-old.

However, he failed to make the grade at the London clubs and has since enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday amongst others.

In July 2018, he signed for French side Toulouse but in the summer of last year he signed a season-long loan deal with Nottingham Forest.

Since his arrival at the City Ground, he has only made five first-team appearances and has struggled to break into the side under Sabri Lamouchi. It is not known if there is a possible recall in his contract which Toulouse could opt to take up if there is a chance of regular first-team football for Bostock elsewhere.

Bostock was touted as being a major star but he has failed to really make an impact and live up to everyone’s expectations.

Following Gallagher’s return to Chelsea, Bowyer said: “The most important thing now is that Conor goes on and progresses in his career, and we’ve got to move on and try and find a replacement.”

Although Bostock has struggled to nail down a regular place at the clubs he has recently been at, with him being born in South London, a transfer to Charlton would see him move closer to home and could be just the move he needs to resurrect his once promising career.
