Sunderland identify Nottingham Forest pair Zach Clough and Liam Bridcutt as transfer targets

According to a report from the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland have identified Nottingham Forest duo Zach Clough and Liam Bridcutt as potential transfer targets, with Phil Parkinson keen to continue his recruitment drive this January.

Sunderland have started their transfer business this month, bringing in Kyle Lafferty on a free transfer, also moving midfielder Dylan McGeouch out on a permanent basis. And now, it has been reported that the Black Cats have identified two new transfer targets.

Nottingham Forest duo Zach Clough and Liam Bridcutt are now on the radar of Sunderland, with Phil Parkinson looking to add some more new faces this January. It is said that the Black Cats could look to make a move for the duo in the coming days, with Parkinson looking to sign four players this month.

As for Bridcutt and Clough, they both could be leaving Nottingham Forest this summer. Bridcutt spent the first half of this season out on loan with Bolton Wanderers and could be allowed to leave on loan again before the end of this month. Clough is also being considered for a loan move away from Forest, with his game time limited under Sabri Lamouchi.

Bridcutt has a wealth of Football League experience under his belt, playing 178 times in the Championship and 72 times in League One. He previously spent two years with Sunderland, making 36 appearances from 2014 to 2016.

Clough has also played in both the Championship and League One, featuring for Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest as well as spending a stint on loan with Rochdale. Over the course of his career, he has scored 41 goals and provided 16 assists in 159 appearances.
