Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa “desperate” to sign Southampton striker Che Adams but move looks unlikely

Leeds United’s manager Marcelo Bielsa is desperate to sign Southampton striker Che Adams this month and has refused to give up on his pursuit of him according to a report from the Daily Star.

Rumours linking Adams with a loan move to Elland Road have been around for a number of weeks now, but Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has shown reluctance to let his striker leave the club.

Adams has struggled to make much of an impact at the South Coast side since joining for a fee in the region of £15 million back in the summer and is yet to score a goal in the Premier League.

Consequently, the former Birmingham City striker is reported to want a loan move in January to get some game time and is said to be very keen to head to Elland Road and help Leeds United achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

This tweet below from Phil Hay of the Athletic UK lays out the current situation:

Phil Hay has also taken to Twitter today to respond to comments made by Jim White on talkSPORT, where the experienced journalist said that Southampton will block any move for Adams, as Hasenhuttl is desperate for him to stay.

This tweet below does not make very good reading for Leeds United fans:

Leeds’ need for a striker comes after Eddie Nketiah was recalled by parent club Arsenal. Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s weekend defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday further highlighted how essential it is that the club bring in a new frontman in January.
