Doncaster Rovers poised to sign Shrewsbury Town striker Fejiri Okenabirhie

Doncaster Rovers are set to swoop for Shrewsbury Town striker Fejiri Okenabirhie, according to a report by the Shropshire Star.

The forward is out of contract at New Meadow at the end of the season meaning they are cashing in on him in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing in the summer.

Okenabirhie, who is 23 years old, has scored twice for the Shrews in all competitions this season after bagging 16 in all competitions in the last campaign.

Doncaster are in the hunt for a new striker this month as they look to climb into the Play-Offs in the second-half of the season.

Okenabirhie was born in London and started his career at Arsenal before switching to Stevenage as a youngster in 2012. He went on to make three appearances for their first team and also had loan spells away at Bedford Town, Farnborough, Cambridge City and Royston Town.

He was released by Stevenage at the end of the 2014/15 and subsequently joined Harrow Borough after trials at Millwall and Barnet. 10 goals in the Isthmian League earned him a move to the National League to Dagenham and Redbridge in June 2016.

Okenabirhie was a hit for the Daggers and scored a combined 20 goals in his two seasons at the club.

Shrewsbury signed him at the start of the last campaign but his time with the Shrews is over now. A new chapter for the striker dawns at most likely Doncaster as the Yorkshire side push for promotion to the Championship.
