Burton Albion boss confirms Brewers have rejected a bid for Sunderland-linked striker Boyce

Speaking to the club’s official website, Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has confirmed that the Brewers have rejected a bid for Sunderland-linked striker Liam Boyce, revealing that midfielder Scott Fraser is also the subject of transfer interest.

As reported by the Northern Echo earlier this week, Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson is keen to add a new striker to his attacking ranks, stating that Burton Albion man Liam Boyce is a player the Black Cats are taking an interest in.

Boyce has been in decent form for Burton so far this season, netting 13 goals and providing two assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.

And now, speaking to the club’s official website, Burton boss Nigel Clough has confirmed that the club has rejected a bid for Nigel Clough, but he did not reveal the identity of the club. He said:

“It’s the same with everybody here that if a club comes in with the right offer then we look at it. That hasn’t changed in 20 years. We have had a bit of interest generally and one bid we have rejected. That’s as far it has gone so far.”

Clough went on to reveal that Burton Albion has also received interest in midfielder Scott Fraser, who has been putting in some impressive performances for the Brewers so far this season. He said:

“We had interest in Scott Fraser as well but no firm bids yet, so we have to take that as it comes and see what happens but he’s down to play on Tuesday night. With the number of assists and goals he has got and the quality of his play this season if we were in the Championship, we would be looking at him.”

Fraser has also been in strong form this season, scoring nine goals and providing 14 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
