Peterborough United chairman hopeful of permanent deals for loan pair in the summer

Speaking on Twitter, Peterborough United chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony is hopeful that the club can sign loan duo Reece Brown and Josh Knight on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window.

Peterborough United signed versatile youngster Josh Knight on loan in the summer transfer window after he enjoyed a successful stint with the club over the course of the second half of the season, and he has continued to impress at London Road, despite injury problems keeping him out of action for over a month now.

The Posh added a second loan player earlier in the January transfer window, bringing in midfielder Reece Brown on a loan deal from Championship side Huddersfield Town. He put in a decent performance on his debut for the club in their 4-2 defeat to Premier League side Burnley.

And now, Posh chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has said that the goal is to sign the two players on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window. Speaking on Twitter, MacAnthony said:

Posh are hoping that Brown will help provide another option in midfield as well as providing a threat going forward. He arrived earlier this window to bring in another much-needed body to Darren Ferguson’s midfield department, with injuries to George Boyd and the aforementioned Knight leaving numbers limited in the middle of the park at times.

Brown only signed for Huddersfield in the summer but after he struggled to break into the first-team picture under both Jan Siewert and Danny Cowley, he left for Posh on loan. It will be interesting to see if he departs on a permanent basis this window, with Peterborough United keen.

As for Knight, he is in his second loan spell at London Road and has become a firm favourite among fans, transitioning from centre-back to central midfield. Posh fans will be hoping that when he returns from injury he can help fire them to promotion, which will boost their chances of signing him on a permanent basis in doing so.
