Reading to offer in-form defender Blackett new deal amid reported Turkish interest

According to a report from the Reading Chronicle, Reading are set to offer a two-and-a-half-year deal to Royals defender Tyler Blackett, amid interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Reading defender Tyler Blackett is out of contract at the Madejski Stadium at the end of the season and amid reported interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, the Reading Chronicle has reported that the Royals are set to offer the defender a new deal at the club to fend off any potential interest in him.

Blackett, 25, is one of many players to have their deal with Reading expiring at the end of the season and now, it has been claimed that Reading will look to offer him a new two-and-a-half-year deal with the club.

Previously speaking to Berkshire Live, manager Mark Bowen said that the club were hoping to tie down out of contract players to new deals, challenging those who have expiring contracts and are on the fringes of the first-team to fight for a place in the side.

In his time with Reading, Blackett has played a total of 110 times, providing eight assists along the way. His involvement has increased over the past month or so, hitting an impressive run of form under Bowen as they continue their rise up the table under new management.

Blackett, who made his break into senior football after coming through the youth academy at Manchester United, has been with Reading since August 2016 and with reports claiming he is set to be offered a new deal, he could be staying at the club for some time yet.
