5 of the most mouth-watering League Cup 2nd round ties

MK Dons vs Manchester United

MK Dons reached the second round by comprehensively seeing off bitter rivals AFC Wimbledon 3-1 and were rewarded with a home tie against Manchester United. In their ten year history the Dons have only ever gotten past the second round four times and whilst facing United possibly won’t do anything to improve that record, , it will be a great opportunity for the MK players to test themselves against the very MK Donsbest. Manager Karl Robinson stated “We’re ecstatic, it’s a dream tie for us. After beating AFC Wimbledon last night, we are now going to be playing one of the greatest ever football teams at Stadium:MK, all in our anniversary season”. Manchester United are entering at this stage of the competition for the first time since the 1995/96 season. These two teams have never met before, although Manchester United played Wimbledon many times before Wimbledon were rebranded as MK Dons. This will be Louis Van Gaal’s first experience of domestic cup competitions in England. I fully expect Van Gaal to use this match as a chance to rest major players and to have a look at some of his squad players.

Prediction: MK Dons 0-2 Manchester United
