Preston North End on the verge of signing Celtic forward Sinclair

According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic forward Scott Sinclair is set to sign for Preston North End, having returned from a mid-season training camp in Dubai to hold talks with manager Alex Neil ahead of a proposed move to Deepdale.

Since the departure of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park, leaving Celtic to return to English football with Leicester City, forward Scott Sinclair has found his game time with the Scottish champions limited. And now, it has been claimed that his successful stint with Celtic is set to come to an end, with Championship side Preston North End swooping in.

It has been reported by the Daily Record that Preston have made an approach over a deal to sign Sinclair this January, with all parties said to be keen on ensuring a deal goes through. Sinclair has returned to the United Kingdom from a mid-season training camp in Dubai to speak with the Championship club.

The report adds that Preston’s fellow Championship side Stoke City were monitoring Sinclair’s situation at Celtic, but it is Alex Neil’s side who look set to complete a deal for the former Manchester City winger.

Sinclair, 30, has made only seven appearances for Celtic this season, scoring two goals in the process. Despite a difficult time at Celtic Park in recent months, his time with the club has been a success.

In total, he has played 162 times for Celtic, netting 62 goals and providing 32 assists along the way, winning Scottish Premiership three times, the Scottish League Cup three times and the Scottish Cup three times in three consecutive seasons.
