Doncaster Rovers leading Sunderland in pursuit for Robins starlet Semenyo

According to a report from Bristol Live, Sunderland are behind fellow League One side Doncaster Rovers in the chase to sign Bristol City starlet Antoine Semenyo on loan for the remainder of the season.

Sunderland is keen to bolster their attacking options this January, with manager Phil Parkinson confirming the Black Cats’ interest in Bristol City starlet Antoine Semenyo before the January transfer window.

The Robins are keen to send Semenyo and some other of the club’s youngsters out on loan before the end of the January transfer window to get some more senior experience under their belts, with Semenyo expected to be one of the players heading out of Ashton Gate temporarily.

And now, with Sunderland’s interest being widely reported, it has emerged from Bristol Live, that fellow League One side Doncaster Rovers are leading the Black Cats in the chase for Semenyo’s signature this winter. The club is said to be “weighing up several offers” for the young forward this January and Doncaster are keen to add some more firepower to their attacking department ahead of the rest of the season.

Semenyo, 19, has been involved in the Robins’ first-team picture so far this season, playing 10 times in all competitions for Lee Johnson’s side, starting in three Championship matches and featuring in all but one matchday squad. He has scored one goal in the process, coming against Queens Park Rangers in the Carabao Cup First Round, in which Bristol City were defeated 8-7 on penalties after initially drawing 3-3.
