Blackburn Rovers midfielder not wanted by Rotherham United amid transfer speculation

According to a report from the Rotherham Advertiser, Rotherham United will not be making a move to try and re-sign midfielder Richie Smallwood from Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window, amid speculation that they could look to bring the former Millers man back to South Yorkshire.

Rotherham United were linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Richie Smallwood ahead of the January transfer window, with it being claimed that Paul Warne could look to bring the former Millers man back to the club next month.

However, any hopes that they could be looking to reunite with Smallwood at the AESSEAL Stadium in January have been dashed. A report from the Rotherham Advertiser has claimed that reports of Rotherham’s interest in Smallwood are wide of the mark.

Along with Smallwood, the likes of Southend United midfielder Luke Hyam and Ross County defender Tom Grivosti have also been linked with the Millers. And, as is the case with Smallwood, the pair are reported to be players the club are not looking to bring in during the January transfer window.

Grivosti has also been linked with fellow League One side Ipswich Town ahead of the January transfer window, so if the Tractor Boys’ interest is genuine, they will have been provided a boost in their pursuit with the South Yorkshire side said to be not interested.

Paul Warne is keen to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, with a defender, winger and attacker reported to be on his shopping list as he looks to guide Rotherham United back to the Championship.
