Salford City bid for MK Dons’ ex-Bristol City and Rotherham United striker rejected

According to a report from Football Insider, Salford City have had a bid rejected by League One side MK Dons for striker Kieran Agard ahead of the January transfer window.

With the January transfer window now just a day away, Salford City are ramping up their efforts to bring in some new faces before the end of the month, with a new striker on the wanted list of manager Graham Alexander.

Alexander is keen to bolster his attacking options and as covered here on The72, reports have claimed that they are closing in on a deal to sign forward Ashley Hunter on loan from Fleetwood Town for the remainder of the season. However, a report from Football Insider has claimed that the Ammies are not done there.

Salford City are reported to have had an offer rejected by MK Dons for 30-year-old striker Kieran Agard ahead of the January transfer window. Agard has managed to maintain a place in MK Dons’ starting 11 so far this season, keeping his spot under new manager Russell Martin but his goalscoring form has been far from prolific.

Agard has netted two goals and provided three assists across all competitions at the halfway point of the 2019/20 campaign, playing in 22 matches. But, despite his poor record so far this season, Salford are still keen to bring him in given his experience in the Football League.

Having come through Everton’s youth academy, Agard spent time out on loan with the likes of Peterborough United and Kilmarnock before going on to play for Yeovil Town, Rotherham United and Bristol City permanently. Since arriving at MK, Agard has scored 46 goals in 161 appearances, laying on 14 assists.
