Ex-Millwall, QPR and Crystal Palace boss in talks over Grimsby Town job

According to a report from Grimsby Live, Grimsby Town have held talks with former Millwall, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway over their vacant managerial role after sacking Michael Jolley earlier this season.

Since sacking Michael Jolley, Grimsby Town have been led by Anthony Limbrick. The departure of Limbrick has not seen the Mariners’ form improve recently, failing to win a League Two match in their last 11 attempts, stretching back to September.

Now, with the New Year approaching, it has been reported that Grimsby Town are starting to make progress on the appointment of a new manager, with Grimsby Live claiming that the club have held progressive talks with former Millwall, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway.

Holloway was linked with a return to management with former club Bristol Rovers, but a move failed to materialise and they instead appointed Ben Garner as their manager. But now, Holloway is said to be in talks with the Mariners over the vacant manager’s role at Blundell Park. He is said to be interested in returning to management with the out of form Mariners after holding successful talks with the club’s hierarchy.

While both the club and Holloway may be keen to make the deal come to fruition in the upcoming weeks, the League Two club’s financial constraints could prevent them completing an impressive coup, with Holloway carrying wealths of experience of the Football League after working with the likes of Crystal Palace, Millwall, Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol Rovers along the way.
